Frequently Asked Questions

RTM homes, or Ready-To-Move homes, are built in one complete piece in a controlled environment and then transported to your property. Once delivered, they’re placed on a permanent foundation providing the comfort and quality of a traditional home with the efficiency of off-site construction. RTM homes are ideal for homeowners who want a custom design and a quick move-in without the disruptions of on-site building. There is less finishing time required compared to modulars.

Modular homes, on the other hand, are constructed in multiple sections or modules that are assembled on-site. Each module is carefully crafted in a factory setting, ensuring consistent quality and precision. Once delivered, the modules are joined together and finished on your lot, creating a home that meets local building codes and offers lasting value.

Significant on-site work is required to join the different modules, finish the interior and exterior seams, connect utilities, and often complete other elements like roofing or attached garages. This process generally takes longer on-site than finishing an RTM.

At Verity Homes, we specialize in both RTM and modular homes, providing flexible solutions tailored to your needs. Whether you’re drawn to the convenience of an RTM home or the design versatility of a modular home, our team is here to guide you through every step - from planning to placement. Discover how Verity Homes can help you build the home you’ve always wanted.

Understanding the difference between RTM homes, modular homes, and mobile (also known as manufactured) homes is essential.

RTM (Ready-To-Move) homes are fully constructed in a controlled environment, then transported to your permanent foundation. They are built to meet the same building codes and standards as site-built homes, offering the craftsmanship and durability you expect in a traditional home, with the efficiency and precision of factory construction.

Modular homes share these advantages. Constructed in sections or modules, they are assembled on-site on a permanent foundation. Modular homes are built to the same residential codes as RTMs, ensuring solid construction, energy efficiency and long-term value.

Mobile homes - often referred to as manufactured homes differ significantly than RTMs and modular homes. Mobile homes are built to a different set of standards (CSA Z240 in Canada) and are typically placed on a steel frame rather than a permanent foundation. While mobile homes can be an affordable housing option, they do not offer the same structural integrity, design flexibility, or appreciation potential as RTM or modular homes.

Choosing an RTM or modular home from Verity Homes means investing in a permanent, high-quality residence built to last. From design to delivery, our team ensures every detail reflects precision, craftsmanship and care.

Container homes are typically created from repurposed shipping containers which in many cases provide regulatory hurdles needed to be cleared. Container homes are limited by the size and shape of the shipping container. In addition there are also insulation challenges to provide a comfortable temperature control.

The benefits of RTM and modular homes, built using high quality materials designed to meet residential building standards, when compared to container homes are vast. In short RTM and modular home benefits include: superior insulation (providing excellent energy efficiency), advanced construction methods and a more traditional home experience. RTM and modular homes offer greater design flexibility, better resale value while offering a more comfortable living environment.

For commercial enterprises seeking efficiency, quality, and cost control, modular construction offers a modern solution that delivers lasting value.

RTM (Ready-to-Move) and modular buildings are transforming how businesses grow. Whether you’re developing staff housing, office spaces, or multi-unit accommodations, modular construction provides precision-built structures manufactured in controlled environments. This ensures consistent quality, reduced waste, and faster completion timelines compared to traditional on-site builds.

Commercial clients also benefit from predictable costs, as modular and RTM buildings are less affected by weather delays and material cost-fluctuations. The result is a dependable, energy-efficient building that aligns with your budget and sustainability goals.

Prefab homes, short for prefabricated homes, are built in a controlled factory environment and then transported to their final location for assembly. This modern approach to homebuilding offers precision, efficiency and quality that traditional on-site construction often can’t match.

At Verity Homes we specialize in two of the most popular types of prefab homes: modular homes and RTM (Ready-to-Move) homes. Both options combine craftsmanship with convenience, giving homeowners a high-quality living space built to last in the challenging Prairie climate.

We use professional, experienced building movers who are specialized in moving many types of buildings. Some of the fixtures or materials are installed after the home is in place to minimize possible damage.

Once the building is in place we inspect the home and our service techs repair any damage, typically cosmetic, to the interior and exterior of the building. The home receives a final cleaning and inspection before the owner takes possession.

RTMs and modular homes are designed for permanent foundations that can include a basement, crawl space or grade beam. Verity homes can provide permanent basement foundations and site preparations (power, water, sewer) as requested.
